June Mood Boards

Last Friday of the month, and you know that means three more mood boards to inspire your upcoming photoshoots! Before I say goodbye to May, I just want to reflect back on the month. I unfortunately didn’t get a blog out every week this month, but two is better than none. If you haven’t already, comment on my latest post (in the middle of the road) with what you want to see in my June blogs! I didn’t have any major collaborations this month, but I did reach out to some local companies for future partnerships. On my page, I started a series called Miami Monday, where every Monday I’ll be showing you guys my favorite spots and exploring some new ones! May’s issue of PhotosUnboxed, In Bloom, releases this weekend. This issue celebrates Mother Nature and is chock full of gorgeous flowers. With all that said, Hello June! You can find all of the full boards here.

June’s birthstone is the pearl so this is a great opportunity to do some elaborate editorial style work. Pearlescent features intricate makeup and headpieces full of pearls. Majority of this board is headshots and tight crops so you’ll need a good lens to capture all those details and amazing patience to painstakingly edit! Because these are all beauty shots, you don’t need to worry so much about the wardrobe. Just focus on the facial expressions!

The next two boards are inspired by summer. Summer officially begins June 20th in the Northern Hemisphere, the season everyone has been waiting for. Well, everyone except the people already living in a year-round summer climate! With warm weather, you see more people enjoying the outdoors, and my mind immediately went to picnics! Picnic Perfect is light, bright, and airy. Find an open field and build yourself a little picnic of cheese, bread, and fruit (great for photos and for a post-shoot snack!) Don’t forget a blanket, and baskets, books, and flowers are great props! I also added some images with basketed bicycles because I think they’re really cute and on theme. Opt for lighter colored dresses and blouses. Flowy dresses and big straw hats are great here. If you add patterns, keep it simple with stripes or gingham. I love how playful this board is so be sure to have fun with it!

Although I’ve never been on one myself, I always associate summer with road trips. Summer Escape is a board inspired by travel with a playful, boho feel. A lot of the images use the car to pose -- shots from the backseat, hanging out the window, sitting on the roof. While many of these images are taken out west, most of these shots can be replicated anywhere, as long as the highway isn’t too busy! Shots sitting or standing on the yellow dividing lines fit perfectly for this theme. I also threw in a few gas station photos because you can’t forget to refuel! Suitcases can be a fun prop here. Hats and jeans are a must for styling! A grainy edit will give a vintage feel. This board also acts as inspiration for PhotosUnboxed June issue, Under the Sun. This issue is all about summer travels and adventures.
