VoxBox: IT Cosmetics

Hi friends! It’s been a loooooong time, huh? Life has been happening and hitting hard, but that’s a talk for another day.

Now I’ve talked about Influenster before, but it’s been a while so here’s a recap.

So what is Influenster? Influenster is a community for discovering and reviewing products. It’s completely free to join, and you don’t need an invite to join, but you can use my link here. As a member you can write reviews for products you’ve tried, ask and answer product questions, read articles about new products, and more! After linking your social medias, you receive an “impact score” which is basically how many people follow you in total.

What is a VoxBox?  A VoxBox is a box of free, often full-size products that Influenster sends to its members for testing purposes. Once you become a member, you will receive campaign surveys. Campaigns can be for anything from snacks to cat litter to beauty products, depending on the interests you select. If you’ve been selected, you’ll receive an email letting you know you’re in and that a box is on the way! After receiving your box, you have a set amount of time to review your products and post pictures if requested. While you don’t HAVE to follow through with all of the required tasks, it does help you get on the list for more boxes. Most important is filling out the post-campaign survey to evaluate your likes and dislikes of the product(s). Other steps you can take to increase your odds of getting a VoxBox are to fill out your “snaps” and completing your reviewing profile. Snap questions help the app learn the brands and products you’ve tried and want to try. There’s multiple categories, such as Facial Skincare, Entertainment, Sweets, and Pets. If you’re not interested in a category you can remove it from your snaps.

I think I’ve been a member since 2017 so I’ve received quite a few boxes over the years, including boxes with Marc Jacobs foundation, Shiseido Skincare, cat products, and Aerie pajamas. I recently received two boxes for IT Cosmetics, but today I’ll focus on the first one containing the Confidence in a Cream and Bye Bye Dark Spots Serum.

Let me start off by saying, I am not sure if I am the correct demographic for IT Cosmetics. They tend to be targeted towards anti-aging, and while it is never too early to start using those products, the results are not as drastic on me. Secondly, this box was delivered while I was in Italy so I did not have as long to test out these products, which may have influenced my opinions.

Confidence in a Cream - “An ultra-hydrating face moisturizer—now with 2X more-potent active ingredients—to reverse 10 visible signs of aging in just two weeks.”

Let’s talk ingredients. So this cream boasts 4% Niacinamide, as well as squalane and a peptide-lipid complex. All of this leads to hydrated skin and even skin tone. I have acne prone skin so I was a little concerned about the Myristyl Myristate and Ethylhexyl Palmitate as comedogenic ingredients. Thankfully I did not experience any breakouts from this moisturizer.

The packaging was very high quality. The cream is a balmy consistency with a bit of fragrance. The instructions recommend applying this both morning and night. If you live in a sub-tropical climate like Miami or are experiencing a brutal summer, I do not recommend this moisturizer for morning use -- it was a slimy mess during my commute.

Ultimately, I haven’t seen much of a difference in my skin so I’ll give this product a 3/5. Don’t love it, don’t hate it. May gift it.

Bye Bye Dark Spots 4% Niacinamide Serum - “A dark spot corrector facial serum with 4% niacinamide and 1% ethyl vitamin C to visibly reduce dark spots and discoloration to improve skin clarity.”

This product has a smaller ingredient list and really focuses on the niacinamide and vitamin C. When I used this product on its own, I found that it left my skin a little pink. For me, the best application was to mix a few drops in with a moisturizer and apply that way.

Because I already use niacinamide in my daily routine, and dark spots are not a problem for me, I did not see major improvements. I recently have decided to test this serum out on a different area -- my underarms. I’ve always been self-conscious about my underarms as I feel like they are discolored. After just a few uses, I think there is some lightening so stay tuned for an update in a future review!

I give this product a 4/5. Niacinamide is an ingredient I recommend it, in general. I personally think this serum is a little overpriced ($35) for what it is, and you could easily find cheaper alternatives at Sephora like The Ordinary or The Inkey List.

Have you used IT Cosmetics products before? What are your faves?

Disclaimers: I was sent all of these products complimentary for testing purposes. All opinions are my own. Additionally, the product links were made through Collective Voice, where I am Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
